Our psychologist Marie Bloomfield can help you to receive the psychological counselling that you need during difficult times. Everyone deserves to access psychological care, especially in times when they feel most vulnerable.
Marie Bloomfield, clinical psychologist, is especially set up to assist you in your home. We can organise online telehealth video call, using your phone, iPad or laptop for you to be able access a psychological counselling session in the comfort and privacy of your home.
You can refer yourself to our service or you can obtain a referral from your GP with a Mental Health Care Plan to access Medicare rebates. You can also claim from Private Health Insurance, Workers' Compensation Insurance or Third Party Insurance or via an Employee Assistance Program.
Since March 2020 Medicare is providing new rebates to help Australian deal with the upheaval of the pandemic such as Telehealth as well as Face to Face psychological sessions for up to 20 sessions per calendar year.
Regular cost
If you do not have a referral from your doctor, you can still access our psychological counselling service for $180.00 for the initial 55-minutes session and $180.00 for subsequent follow-up 55-minutes sessions.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (see below) from your GP you will be able to obtain a rebate of $128.40 from Medicare for each session.
Medicare rebates
You will qualify for Medicare rebates only if you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your doctor.
If you believe that a psychological counselling session would help you, we would advise that you discuss it with your GP, or your specialist doctor. Ask your Doctor if he/she can do an initial Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) assessment, to establish if it is appropriate for you to be referred to a psychologist. With a Mental Health Care Plan, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 20 sessions in the following 12 months of being issued. This is a new initiative that the Government is supporting for the next 2 years.
Here are the Medicare rebates available with a MHCP:
Please note that we will need a copy of your MHCP (which can be email to us by your doctor, or you can scan, take a picture or email it to us) before your scheduled appointment to qualify for the Medicare rebate.
Private Health Insurance rebates
The majority of Australian health funds have agreed to provide coverage for telehealth consultations provided by psychologists, from 30 March 2020, following the COVID-19 pandemic. You will need to check with your Private Health Insurances to check if you have the relevant cover.
Other Medicare rebates are also available for special groups
